From the careful management of Shining Rock Vineyard through to the final bottling of each vintage, Dan and Wendi are personally involved in every stage of the process.

Their hands-on approach is driven by a constant pursuit of quality, continually refining vineyard practices to enhance fruit expression and showcase the distinctive character of each variety. Every decision is made with the goal of allowing the fruit to speak for itself.

At the heart of Berrigan Wines is a commitment to growing exceptional grapes. Drawing on a deep understanding of viticulture and the intrinsic relationship between vineyard and wine, Dan and Wendi craft premium wines that authentically reflect their origins. The result is a collection of wines with a genuine sense of place—expressive, balanced, and unmistakably Adelaide Hills.

The Bull Rider

The bull rider featured in our logo represents the courage to take a chance—to back yourself, embrace uncertainty, and have a crack at something meaningful.

Choosing to ride a bull requires determination, resilience, and a willingness to accept risk, knowing there is every possibility you may be thrown to the ground. It is a symbol of perseverance, grit, and the belief that some opportunities are worth pursuing despite the challenges.

For Dan, that leap of faith came when he stepped away from the security of a successful career as a chief winemaker to pursue his vision of owning and operating his own vineyard and winery. It was a decision driven by passion, conviction, and a desire to create something of his own.

Fortunately, Wendi was willing to climb onto that same bull. As both Dan’s partner and a driving force behind the business, she has played an integral role in growing Berrigan Wines and helping shape the brand it is today.

Together, Dan and Wendi purchased Shining Rock Vineyard in the Adelaide Hills in mid-2020—at a time when the world was navigating a global pandemic and the Australian wine industry was facing significant uncertainty due to the China trade dispute. While the timing may have seemed daunting, it reflected the very spirit embodied by the bull rider: the courage to take a chance and build something lasting.
