Quick Description [+]
This Shiraz is a special and unique, terroir driven wine that really speaks of the site from which the grapes were grown.
It's a spicy, peppery wine with plenty of upfront cherry, raspberry and plum flavours.
Soft and luxurious, inky dark in colour and medium-bodied in weight, this wine pairs well with a wide range of foods but is also very enjoyable on its own.
Black pepper, fresh plum, ripe cherries and vanilla, are all flavours bustling around in this wine.
Medium-bodied with an incredible complexity of unique flavours that can only be found in our vineyard.
The 2016 season was fantastic for growing grapes in Mt Benson as it was dry, sunny and mild.
We matured the Shiraz on the vine until 14.5 baume, upon whic the fruit was destemmed (not crushed) and inoculated with yeast straight away.
Around 7 days of warm primary and secondary fermentation in open fermenters then pressed straight to barrel on partial lees where the wine was matured for 14 months in a combination of new, 1 yr old and 3 yr old fine-grained French oak barrels.
